Farm incomes are forecast to be slashed significantly across several sectors during the year to February, Defra figures show.    Forecast of Farm Business Incomes for 2015/16, released on January 28, shows declines of nearly 50 per cent in some sectors due to lower prices across the majority of UK farm commodities.

The current changes to subsidy payments and the low commodity prices are prompting farmers to make more use of their existing assets to build agri-businesses.

This half day workshop is being organised by Royal Bank of Scotland and Go Rural for Business to allow business owners to understand the range of options open to them to add value to their current business, using case studies from other farming enterprises.

Participants will review all their existing physical and human assets and discuss with others options open to them for future growth. The workshop will consider all types of agri-business including options where there is no direct involvement from the farming family, except for rental income.

Up to two people may attend from each business and the session will end up with lunch.
