If Prince Charles opts to stay in an agriturismo over a royal suite this Italian paragon must be doing something pretty good. My views on Italian Agritourism by Neil Picken, Solway View Holidays
9th October 2015
The trip to Tuscany was very well organised by Go Rural and everybody gelled very quickly (nothing to do with the car journeys).
The growth in Agritourism in Italy is primarily due to the policy makers being 100% behind the concept. In the early 1970’s there were 40 Agritourism businesses in Umbria and now there are near to 2000. The grant funding and support offered in Italy, has help to stop the de-population of the countryside. This round of SRDP grants are only being considered for existing Agritourism businesses to enhance and improve their business. This effectively demonstrates our policy makers are not encouraging new entrants to the Agriculture sector.
